Indian society however modern it may get, still tends to believe certain myths that are passed on from generations. Those nine months of pregnancy is the most important phase in a woman’s life where she goes through a number of physical and psychological changes. What is important to understand is that what actually is fact and truths of pregnancy. Science has over the years busted many pregnancy myths giving us a clear picture on the do’s and don’ts of pregnancy.

Let us go through some of the myths about pregnancy pregnancy that have dominated many minds of pregnant women.

Our list starts with foods to avoid during pregnancy. As a matter of fact, a pregnant women is always advised on a list of foods to avoid when pregnant. In this video we have tried to explore the scientific truths of such advices with famous dietician Jyoti Chabria. So let's dig into the issue - what not to eat during pregnancy:

Papaya a big NO: The Myth- It is believed that eating papaya during pregnancy can cause an abortion.
The Fact- The fact is that papaya on the contrary is very rich in beta carotene and fiber. It is also one of the best nutrients that aids in digestion.

Saffron and Milk: the Myth- Many people believe that by consuming saffron, it can help them in having a fair baby.

The Fact: Here again there is a misconception that saffron or milk can help in having a fairer baby which is a myth.

Lentils harmful during pregnancy: The Myth: It is believed by many that eating various dals like Toor dal post delivery can cause puss formation in the stitches.

The fact- The truth is that on the other hand these dals are filled with proteins and do not cause any puss.

The question that arises here is what is the idea of having a healthy and well balanced diet? The law of nature is that by the end of the day the baby is never compromised! A good example of this are the lower section of society like the labor class where in the mother can give birth to an absolutely healthy baby in spite of her not having a good diet during her pregnancy.

Eating anything in moderate quantity is what a pregnant woman should follow! So let go of all the myths and eat what is healthy and right for you.
