How to Keep Blood Sugar Levels Normal During Pregnancy
Do you know how to keep blood sugar levels normal during pregnancy?
The ways of keeping blood sugar normal during pregnancy are the same used by diabetics in general.
Control your weight or lose weight.
Women with prenatal diabetes or at risk of it have to avoid gaining a lot of weight, but you shouldn't try to diet during pregnancy.
What should I do to control the blood sugar?
Don't eat foods laden with sugar. Eat unsweetened cereal and whole grain breads instead of white bread.
That's almost as bad as the Atkins diet.
You can eat all the lean meat and vegetables you want if it is totally cooked. Don't eat anything with high fructose corn syrup added.
There's plenty of fruit juices I could have instead of soda.
Many fruit juices have sugar added. Diet soda is an option, though the salt makes water retention worse, while sugar-free juice just doesn't taste as good.
I have seen diabetic eat a lot of small meals and snacks.
That helps them keep their blood sugar even instead of highs and lows from eating every six hours.
Should I eat anything at night?
You probably should eat something before you go to bed. However, to lessen the impact on blood sugar, it should be high in protein.
Won't protein affect my blood sugar?
It digests very slowly in the body, which is why high protein foods are good for diabetics.
Or those who are at risk for diabetes.
Correct. But you don't want to develop diabetes.
Because I don't want insulin injections.
Or the excessive thirst and frequent urination, in excess of what you already have to deal with as a pregnant woman. Or the risk of a ten pound baby.
Oh, that's literally torture.
