The 4th trimester or, to be more specific, the first 3 months after delivering a baby is indeed a challenging time to go through. Women go through a lot of healing and many feel insecure about their new role as a mother during their postpartum/post-pregnancy period in life.

Whilst you need your own sleep to heal and restore, you are also having to look after a newborn with frequent breastfeeding and getting up in the middle of the night.

Some of the post-pregnancy bodily changes that you will be going through can include:

- Bleeding from the uterus for around 6 weeks as it shrinks back to its normal size
- Spots and pimples appearing due to changing hormone levels following pregnancy and birth
- Engorgement of the breast as they begin to produce milk
- Deflation of the breasts at about 6 weeks postpartum as your body works out how much milk it needs to produce for your baby's needs.
- Vulnerability and insecurity
